The Medalist Story

Karate Kitten Studios is proud to announce the release of our first app called Medalist!

A note from our Founder:

Medalist was designed after years of trying to solve the same problem over and over again every year. Like so many, I gather with groups of friends on weekends somewhere playing multiple rounds of golf at awesome courses. And like just you, we play in our own Tournaments, with matches and trophies and all sorts of nuance. Stop me if you’ve heard this one: we used unruly, historical spreadsheet data, manually created scorecards for each round determined all matchups, did all the match handicap math, figured out who get blows and where, etc. …chances are, you know the drill. And that’s just the pre-Tournament setup! Drunk math still awaits just to figure out who’s leading the damn thing after your day of golf is done. Tell me you haven’t been there! If so, tell that friend who tallies all your crew’s scorecards at the end of the night about MEDALIST. They’ll be glad you did.

Like nearly every group that plays a tournament like this, we looked at tech over the years and never found one that does all the things my personal Tournaments uses….at a fair price point. This was wholly unsatisfying for a variety of reasons, including our willingness to PAY for such tech. But no one delivered.

So I went out and designed Medalist & built the prototype myself…to solve my annually recurring problem. It’s the same problem so many groups have: run my Match Play Golf Tournament. And really run it with customizable options and different match types and tournament formats. Because each outing I play in is unlike any other. How about you?

But now Medalist is here! And my team is very excited (and more than a little nervous) to get it in the hands of real users to see what you think! We’re already working on the next round of features and are excited to hear your feedback. We hope you download the app and enjoy it as much as we do.
